Welding and Fabrication

GTAW (TIG)

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding

GTAW is a type of arc welding which produces the weld using a non-consumable tungsten electrode. This is also commonly known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding. GTAW is a cleaner method of welding and is used when tolerances are critical, metals are exotic, or an attractive appearance is important. Learning all the fundamentals involved in the GTAW process will help a welder to produce quality weldments and make better choices when selecting the correct consumables, equipment, and pre-weld preparations.

GMAW

Gas Metal Arc Welding

Also referred to as Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, is a technique that allows welders to weld on many different materials and through different methods. The GMAW method allows the weld to form when the heat for melting the metal is generated by an electric arc between a consumable electrode and the base metal. The process uses shielding from an externally supplied gas to protect the molten weld pool. GMAW can be used for joining dissimilar metals with close melting points and metallurgical compatibility. Since GMAW can be used for a variety of metals, this welding technique can be applied in any industry where these materials are employed. The GMAW welding technique is considered a necessity for anyone looking to enter the field of welding.

SMAW

Shield Metal Arc Welding

SMAW, also known as Stick Welding is a manual arc welding process which uses a consumable electrode covered with a flux to lay the weld. The SMAW method of welding consists of a versatile process with simpler equipment than other methods of welding. Because of this it one of the world's first and foremost welding processes. The process is used mostly to weld iron and steels, but also is used with aluminum, nicker, and copper alloys.

FCAW

Flux-cored Arc Welding

The FCAW process is very similar the GMAW method, both processes use similar equipment and continuous wire feds. The FCAW process is considered a very flexible welding method, suitable for all position welding (given the proper filler metal and flux composition). FCAW is often used in the construction industry because of its versatile capabilities, even holding up in some extreme weather conditions.

Weld Training and Certification Services

LA City Type 1 Fabricator

Weld management is experienced in helping companies become licensed LA City fabricators.

We have developed a system to streamline the process and remove the confusion and make it simple and straight forward to get you licensed as quickly as possible. Complete with a QC manual and documentation we make sure to have all your bases covered and can even deliver the application to the city directly for you!

Welding Certifications

Welder certification is based on specially designed tests to determine a welder’s ability and skill level to create and implement sound and effective welds. Weld Management specializes in welder qualification processing. We commonly qualify welders to many codes and standards that are recognized across the globe.

Some of our certifications include: ASME, AWS B2.1. D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.5, D1.6, D17.1, Mil-Standards, NAVSEA

Some of our certifications include:

AWS

NavAir
B2.1

ASME

D17.1
D1.3

Mil-Standards

D1.5

Navsea

D1.6

Weld Management has over 100+ available certifications across nearly any code sanction. Tests are administered by CWI’s and processed by CWI’s as well. All inspectors and employees of Weld Management are highly skilled with a combined 50 years in the welding industry.

Weld Testing Lab & Inspection Services

CWI

Certified Welding Inspector Services

The CWI’s at Weld Management are experienced in inspection in many of the major codes and military specifications. The community of inspectors here are a tight group and share their years of experience freely. These same inspectors can assist in advice and technique to your welding personnel who may be struggling. We are confident to talk on your behalf if you are in a position where you do not understand a customer’s requirements, or your welding crew is having difficulty understanding drawings and welding symbols.

Destructive Testing

Destructive testing is performed on a completed weld to evaluate the characteristics and effectiveness of the weld. These tests also include welding procedure qualification and welder performance qualification testing. A number of destructive weld testing methods are employed to determine the integrity of the weld. Weld Management has extensive experience in destructive testing in many aspects of the welding industry.

Specialized Fabrication

With over 40 combined years in welding and fabrication, Weld Management specializes in exotic materials, custom weldments, unique configurations, and precise quality.

WPS

Welding Procedure Specifications

The Welding Procedure Specification is a written document describing the welding procedures, and provides directions to the welder(s) and operators for making sound and quality production welds. A WPS is created for each material alloy and for each welding type used. According to American Welding Society (AWS), a WPS provides in detail the required welding variables for specific application to assure repeatability by properly trained welders. Weld Management can help you develop the correct Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) to ensure both you company and the welders you employ correctly complete welds in accordance with code requirements.

Weld Management is experienced in many types of work, from one off weldments, production runs, and picking up where someone left off. We can make the welding for your project happen, and are able to adapt to different work schedules.

PQR

Procedure Qualification Records

A Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is supported by a Procedure Qualification Record (PQR). A PDR is a record of a test weld performed and rigorously tested to ensure that the procedure will produce a good weld. Weld Management specializes in creating quality welds, attention to detail, and helping you develop a quality welded product. The CWI’s at Weld Management who administer Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and develop Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) are all highly skilled welders as well.
